This collection of stories and pictures is about truly awesome and memorable experiences that are neither complicated or expensive. The author has had a busy life but seized the opportunities and discovered ways to experience the coastal streams and estuaries by using the tides to take him out to the ocean, then bring him back to the launch site with surprisingly little effort. His eyes light up when he tells of, “… bending the oars against the incoming tide” and his first experience in a tiny wooden boat facing the open ocean straight ahead. Though the author uses longer and heavier kayaks and boats he deliberately created this account for owners of small watercraft.
His book is about non-motorized watercraft such as kayaks and wooden row boats. Although the setting is the Pacific Northwest, USA, the principles he explains would work anywhere in the world.

A very descriptive book of the authors adventures in boats and kayaks using the ocean tides to go down rivers to the sea and then the incoming tide to take him back to his starting point. Nice pictures included which makes the stories come alive. I wished it had been longer as I wanted to read more of his adventures in the water. Gives some good ideas for starting your own water adventure.Product details

Made me want to get out on the river. Thanks for all of the great information. I really liked the book.
Being a person who loves "messing around in boats" I enjoyed it. I have spent a lot of time in Nestucca Bay and on the Little Nestucca in small fishing boats and in sea kayaks, one of my favorite places to paddle.
